A complete range of shared VR technologies

Developing and delivering 360° projection technology is what we do.

This includes:

Projection domes - distinctive, robust structures of up to 21-metre diameter, for indoor or outdoor use, which are great for projecting a seamless 360° horizon.

Projection cylinders - easily erected in more confined spaces, and fitting under standard ceiling heights, these structures of up to 9-metre diameter are great for collaborative presentations, teamwork and exhibitions.

Media Servers and software - the heart of the Igloo business, we created our own layer-based visualisation system, which is flexible, scalable, easy-to-operate, and compatible with almost any 360° content.

And with a growing team of in-house technologists, we are creating more-and-more capabilities all the time.

With Igloo, you can own, hire or build

We offer a full range of Igloo projection spaces – from 6-to-21 metres in diameter, accommodating anything up to 1000 people.

You can own or hire any of them. They can come fully-crewed, or you can quickly learn how to operate them.  And, if you want something more specific, we can build you your very own fully-equipped shared VR facility.

Available as standard solutions
or custom-builds

We offer a range of shared VR spaces – either as projection domes or cylinders.

But, if you want something bespoke, we can help.  We can always adapt our
standardised solutions, or we can build something unique, specifically for you.

Wherever in the world you are, you can use Igloo.

From our bases in the UK and the USA, we have worked with 100s of clients worldwide.

So, for example, we’ve built visualisation spaces in Australia, simulation centres in Hong Kong, art exhibits in the UAE, and visitor attractions in Europe.  Clients have used our facilities and test centres in the UK and the USA, and we have delivered Igloo experiences right across the globe.

Seeing past the limitations of VR headsets

Many clients have come to Igloo because they are frustrated by the limitations of VR headsets. Of course, today’s VR headsets do deliver a great experience, but it tends to be a solitary one.

The Igloo experience is different:
  • It’s a shared experience – which is great for events.
  • You can make eye contact and read body language – which is great for stakeholder engagement.
  • You can see everyone and what they are all looking at – which is great for training.
  • You can grab a pen and paper, or switch between the context of a meeting and the virtuality of a 3D model – which is great for visualisations and virtual prototyping.

So, if you are looking for a collaborative or consultative experience, talk to us about what is possible with Igloo and shared VR.

If you already have VR content,
we can probably display it in an Igloo

The real beauty of the Igloo platform is its flexibility.

We can work with practically any media format, games engine, image generator or presentation software.  If you have already created content for a VR headset, we can usually play it.  And we can generally adapt all your CGI, CAD and BIM content.

If you don’t already have VR content, we can help you create it.

Because immersive 360° experiences are what we do, we know what makes for great content – and we can help you create it for yourself.

For example, we can guide your creative teams.  You can call on our in-house content specialists.  And, each step of the way, you can proof and test your content in a ‘virtual Igloo’ using a standard VR headset.

Alternatively, we can put you in touch with the content creators who we
believe to be the very best in the business.

You are always welcome to use the Igloo shared VR centres

We have three fully-equipped shared VR centres (one in London, one in New Jersey, and one at Igloo HQ in the Shropshire countryside).

And all of them are available for you to use.

For example, you can visit us to get a first-hand feel for shared VR and test your existing content. Or, you can hire them by the day – to host events, for example, or run collaborative teamwork sessions, or show your colleagues the potential for shared VR.

You get proven quality at a realistic price

Step inside an Igloo, and you’ll be struck by the quality of the experience – with cinematic HD projection
and studio-quality soundscapes.

But, compared to other immersive environments, Igloos tend to be very affordable.
Ten years ago, we started out as a low-cost way to create immersive 360° projections. The Economist magazine cites Igloo technology as an example of ‘frugal innovation’. And the determination to find ingenious cost-efficiencies is still very much part of the Igloo story.
