Are immersive rooms easy to use?

It’s a question we get a lot, and with very good reason.

On the outside, full immersive environments can often look tricky to control, tricky to optimise, and tricky to configure.

And in some cases, this can be true.

However, as the technology powering the spaces evolves over time, immersive spaces are becoming easier and easier to incorporate into your daily workflows.

In summary, an immersive room can be either hard or easy to use; it all depends on the software you choose to power it with.

And that’s why we developed Igloo Core Engine, the leading platform for immersive spaces. We’ve optimised and refined it over 20 years to create a seamless and intuitive experience for users of all abilities.

Here are some of the key features that set it apart from its competitors:

Desktop and Canvas UI

Igloo Core Engine comes equipped with two separate User Interfaces out of the box: Desktop UI, our most capable and powerful version for power users, and Canvas UI, a streamlined version for the everyday user.

Whilst everyone can make and operate sessions in Igloo Core Engine. This dual-fronted design allows users with more technical literacy to architect and design more complex sessions, whilst enabling those with less proficiency to easily operate those on a day-to-day basis.

This means lower barriers to entry across the organisation, with maximum buy-in all round.

Multi-device compatibility

We recognise that different users feel comfortable with different devices. It’s for this reason that we have ensured Igloo Core Engine is compatible with the widest range of devices possible across our use cases.

For example, you may want to do the majority of your day-to-day control using your mobile phone or tablet with our Control Panel app, using the built-in gyroscope for mouse navigation and touchscreen for selection.

Or, when exploring 3D models and environments, you may find it more intuitive to use an Xbox or PlayStation controller for fluid navigation.

If you want cutting-edge control, Igloo supports head and hand tracking devices, such as VR wands. Or, for the traditionalist, mouse and keyboard support can still reign supreme.

Familiar and accessible design

All Igloo software is thoughtfully designed to give all users a familiar feel. Our design ethos is underpinned by the idea that if you can use a phone, you can use Igloo Core Engine.

With its layer-based design, both immersive and non-immersive content can be placed into a session and mixed and matched across your canvas to create high-impact mixed-media sessions.

Content is added intuitively, with a simple drag and drop sufficient to load anything from AI-generated images, to 3D models, to videos.

Industry-leading integrations

Igloo Core Engine works out of the box with the widest range of external software integrations of any immersive software provider.

These include specialist integrations such as Revizto, AutoDesk, Matterport, Rhino 3D, and more, as well as day-to-day web-based integrations such as Google Street View, Microsoft 365, and YouTube 360. Additionally, almost any web-based content, both immersive and non-immersive, will work natively in Igloo Core Engine.

Launchpad

Launchpad is our customisable quick-access menu. It contains custom tiles which hold entire immersive sessions, available at all times to the user. This means you can jump from session to session in just two clicks, leading to minimal downtime and maximum return.

Because it’s accessible from both Desktop UI and Control Panel, you can switch on the fly whilst your audience remains in the room, whereas other systems may force downtime in between.

True Perspective

Possibly Igloo’s most treasured feature, True Perspective is a unique-to-Igloo capability that automatically formats your content to fit your immersive space with just a simple button press.

Whilst having your content align with your space might seem simple on the surface, the reality is that in many immersive setups, it can often take a significant amount of time to configure each piece to run smoothly, leading to extremely costly downtime in between sessions.

True Perspective solves this problem, meaning no matter the content you want to use, it will work in your space, no configuration needed.

AI Asset Generation

One of the newest features available in Igloo Core Engine. AI Asset Generation integrates with your chosen model, allowing you to natively generate assets directly into your canvas, including equirectangular and 360 images.

True Perspective then automatically formats the asset to fit your space, meaning you have access to an infinite library of content, just a prompt away.
